Sam talks about the complicated details of ethics. It is vital to be ethical but is not always black and white as one might think. Are the big banks/lenders, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA ethical? When the housing market drops on a macro scale, is it ethical for big lenders to refuse to work with homeowners who have equity in order to foreclose and take that equity and be more willing to work with homeowners who have no equity to create shortsales? Both cases benefit the bank and not necessarily the consumer. Is this ethical?

He has continued to share his philosophy by creating Tumbleweed Tiny House Company and through such venues as Fine Homebuilding, The Wall Street Journal, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and at the University of Iowa’s School of Art, where he served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Drawing for more than a decade. More banks closing and more lenders imploding. But, we can meet this challenge with a positive outlook instead of saying, "why us", we can say "what shall we do." Multi-generational housing is one of the main solutions.
Beware of Mortgage Modifications! The old saying if it seems to good to be true then it probabally is applies here. According to the USA today article only 8% of mortgage modifications result in principal reduction. The principal reduction solution is with out question best for borrowers. Reducing interest rates, adding payments to the back end of the loan, defering interest etc; all sounds good but, most likely put the borrower in more debt and most often actually insure that the loan will go in to default some time down the line. So if you get a principal reduction with no strings attached it's worth it. Most often the lender will try to recover the principal reduction of the home is sold ... you need to push for principal reduction with no strings attached or it's not in the borrowers best interest to engage in Mortgage modification.

Sam talks about the market. The Chiller report is bogus and doesn't reflect reality. Fed Proposes Fee Restrictions for Brokers Mortgage brokers are not getting a fair shake from the indestry. What if we put Loan Officers/mortgage brokers on the side of the borrower and protected the consumer from the lenders? What if we could get Loan Officers fair pay for every loan they work on?

John is currently a mortgage broker but, was an account executive for a large bank for five years before the mortgage crisis. Congressman Frank proposes home loan plan for jobless. We say it will be a disaster. We have solutions but, the government and the indestry as a whole aren't willing to try them. We believe the market will get much worse.
Sam talks about the market, mentions that Obama's push for regulation is not a good thing, and tells some stories (personal examples) of how even new programs are being miss used. The mortgage modification programs are now being used by A-credit borrowers only because the guide lines are way to tight (over regulation in effect). Utah County businessman pleads not guilty to fraud charges. Sam talks about the big bankers and gov groups are all doing the same things and they all get a pass. Why attack the businessman? Remember he is innocent until proven guilty!

Sam talks about the stories in the media: Case-shiller index indicates continued housing price free fall. Lenders are more open to short sales. In my view, this is all good and should have been done a long time ago. We would not have near the problem on our hands if we would have not tried to prop up the price of housing as we have.
